Escharum was a prominent Jiralhanae War Chief within the Banished, inheriting the position of second-in-command following the death of Decimus.[5][6] In the absence of the faction's founder and leader Atriox, Escharum rose to power within the Banished and would lead the faction to victory against the UNSC in late 2559, managing to seize control of Zeta Halo.[7][8] He was eventually killed in battle by the Master Chief in May 2560
